A man stands on a rock outcropping, looking out over a vast forest, The sun is just above the mountains on horizon creating a beautiful firery sky, There’s a breeze strong enough to blow his cape almost vertical, What is he doing?
Is this sunset, or sunrise? Is this the conclusion of his journey, or just the beginning? Is he looking towards his destination off in the mountains? Or perhaps he is looking at the home he just traveled from and wonders why he came to begin with, or maybe he’s happy to be away. Maybe he’s tried of life’s troubles and came to this high point to end it. Maybe he’s preparing himself for something that’s about to transpire like some kind of battle, or possibly thinking about the battle that he was just a part of. Maybe he won, maybe he lost, maybe he’s realizing that nobody wins in a fight, maybe he wants peace, maybe he wants war. Maybe he’s angry, and he came here to cool off. Perhaps he came to pray, or just marvel at the beauty that God and Mother Nature have put here on the earth.
It could be anything, I guess I doesn’t matter much, it’s obvious that he is thinking about something, I wish I could be up there on that massive rock, it would be easy to get lost in thought for hours and hours, I’d never want that sun to move or the breeze to stop. If only for an eternal moment I could feel what he must feel, I would hold that moment forever.
